Who's that handsome wookie?
He kept it on for a long time! This would have been a great shot, if
not for the sun reflecting off the mirror... I think Daddy got a
better shot with the good camera- if not, we'll have to dress Danny up
and try again! (I think he's starting to like the costume now- he
actually grabbed the headpiece and put it on when I got him up this
morning!)
Danny went trick or treating with Mommy on Halloween. He carried his
Elmo bucket and held Mommy's hand as we left Daddy behind to hold the
fort. I didn't intend to actually go up to any houses for candy, just
to walk around a bit and show off his costume, but we ended up meeting
up with our neighbors as they were taking little Sam (age 4) and Lucy
(just turned 1). It's always nice to walk with friends, so we tagged
along with them.
For the first house, we waited at the sidewalk and watched, but at the
second house, when Sam went up to trick or treat, Danny wanted to go
along and see what it was all about, so we went up too. That house
turned out to be a dud (nobody home), but it was a good practice run
for Danny.
The next house was a good one, Danny went right up with Sam, but
didn't understand when the lady wanted to put something in his Elmo
bucket. I think he was afraid she wanted to take his Elmo bucket! Sam
tried to help, but eventually Mommy had to accept the treat and sneak
it into his bucket later.
About a block later, Danny was tired of walking, so we said goodbye to
Sam and Lucy and headed home. We met up with another group of kids
going our way and met a cute little doggy dressed up as a jack-o-
lantern. I think Danny officially trick or treated at five whole
houses! After receiving each treat, I told Danny to say "thank you"
and he signed "thank you!" Everyone thought he was adorable, even if
they thought he was blowing kisses instead of using sign language.
Once we got home, Danny enjoyed his pretzles (the one treat Mommy will
let him have out of his "haul"...) and Mommy took over passing out
treats. Eventually, Danny came to join me- trying to figure out what I
was doing. He tentatively waived bye-bye when each batch if trick or
treaters left. By the end of the night, he was even brave enough to
try to help pass out treats!
All in all, a succesful Halloween, even if Mommy and Daddy still
didn't get around to putting up any decorations.
