Dr's followup
So a follow-up to those of you who were wondering - it turns out that Danny had an ear infection and a little bit of conjunctivitis (pink eye). He's got eye drops and amoxycillin to take now. The eye drops cleared up the pink eye almost right away. Danny doesn't seem to mind the amoxycillin - but then again, considering how many flavors of things he's tried so far, he might just like it because it's different... But he'll watch my face as I slowly dose the medicine into his mouth - and then he'll try to take the syringe from my hand so that he can suck on it some more. He's still a little fussy, but he's doing better. We'll have this thing knocked out soon.
Oh - and this picture was taken while waiting in the doctor's office. You can see that Danny's getting stronger and more coordinated. he's now able to pull down his elephant toy and get one of its feet into his mouth before it rattles back up into place.

The boss playing with rings
shaking them and tossing them to the floor for Mommy to retreive.
Would have made a great video, if I had had the camcorder...

Mmmm toys- what a great way to share germs...
Mommy and Daddy are both on antibiotics - today is Danny's turn to go
in and see if his doctor wants to give him antibiotics too... From
talking with people, it sounds like this bug is making the rounds of
both work and daycare. As a family, one or more of us have had it
long enough that I'm beginning to suspect that we're re-infecting each
other... I just hope we haven't infected too many of the people who
have come to visit lately!

Feeling better
morning.
Too bad Mommy couldn't keep the camera straight...
Dressed up like Daddy
Danny looked so much like Daddy yesterday - navy polo shirt, khaki
shorts - and even Daddy's cough and snuffles... :-(
(there seems to be something going around Danny's classroom, so while
Brian has been trying to get over the cold that he picked up from
work, Danny seems to have picked up something from school...)

smiling
figured out the concept sometime in his 6th week...) I've posted
pictures of him smiling, but it can still be pretty challenging to
catch a smile at its best in the camera... His smiles are really best
in person! :-)
Lately, tho, we've noticed some refinement in his smiles. At first
they were all or nothing - a huge, open-mouthed Kermit-style smile or
no smile at all. Now he's got levels of smiles. He's still got that
great big smile - often accompanied by a giggle, but now he also has a
sly little grin. It's not quite an "I'm up to something" grin, but
it's getting there. It's really cute (of course!) and it kinda
reminds me of his Great-Grandma Gene.
I've mostly shared this blog with family and close friends so far, so
many of you knew Brian's Grandma Hall, or Grandma Gene, as I liked to
call her. For those of you who did not know Grandma Gene, she was a
really wonderful lady - and yes, she often had a mischievous "I'm up
to something" kind of grin on her face. ( I think that mischievous and
ornery were two of her favorite moods. :-) ) Unfortunately, she passed
away just a few weeks after Daniel was born. She didn't get to meet
her great grandson in person, but I'm sure she watches over him.
I was disappointed that Daniel will never get to take lessons in
mischief from his Great-Grandma Gene, but now that I've seen that
little grin, I know that there's a little bit of her in him. I bet
she's teaching him lessons somehow that I just can't see. I hope one
of the lessons she teaches him is how to enjoy life as much as she did.
I miss you, Grandma Gene.
Love,
Kathy

Sitting in the chair-
Daniel seemed to enjoy the new perspective on the room. It didn't last
too long - by the time I left, just a few minutes later, he had
already gotten tired of sitting up, and was doing tummy time with a
boppy. But even so, it was good practice for sitting on his own!
