Glee!

Hmmm...

I think this car needs a cupholder...

Social activity

One of the great things about daycare is that Danny gets so much interaction with kids his own age in a safe environment. If he were home with me all the time, I'd eventually try to find some sort of park to go to or playgroup to join, but as I'm something of an introvert, we'd probably spend more days at home alone than not...

Yesterday I stuck around at daycare for a while before heading home to do whatever was on my to-do list for the day and I saw some of how he relates to his classmates.

When they sat down for snack, Danny ended up sitting across from a little boy named Josiah. I sat there talking with one of the teachers, and eventually realized that Danny and Josiah were looking at each other, shaking their heads at one another and grinning like mad. They shook their heads so hard that I thought one of them was going to fall over, but they were having a grand time! I've seen Danny start to shake his head when Daddy does it at the dinner table - (usually right after I ask Danny something like "do you want more vegetables...") and they both find it funny - but I had never seen Danny do that with one of his classmates. It was like they had a private joke and both found it hilarious!

The other thing that I saw was at the end of snacktime. Another boy, Nate, had finished early and ran over to a set of cupboards. He pulled on the handles and rattled the doors (they're locked, of course, to keep curious little people out). He looked back over his shoulder to see if anyone was watching him and grinned. Danny and Josiah were both watching and started to crack up. This caused Nate to giggle and rattle the doors some more until the three of them were in stitches. I think I know who the class clown is now!

It feels great seeing Danny interact so well with his friends at school. I feel awful on those morning when he starts to cry when I head for the door, but then other times I see him goofing off with kids his own age, and I know we're doing a good thing for him. Maybe, someday when he's older, he'll end up being less of an introvert than his Mom, all thanks to being in daycare...

Yup, I'm up to something!

Class art project

Mommy stuck around today and helped with the class art project. 7
toddlers + paint brushes + paint & crayons = chaos! But it was fun!
Here the finished piece is hanging up to dry - I'll try to get a
better picture when it's up for display.

Piano man

Yesterday was music share day and Danny took his Cookie Monster piano
in to share. This morning, Danny saw it was still out and wanted to
take it in again. I tried explaining that yesterday was music share,
not today, but he insisted on taking it anyway. He even held it in his
lap the whole drive in to daycare and carried it into the classroom.
His friends were excited to see the piano again and tried to swarm
Danny when he showed up with it. Danny looked up at me for help- as if
to say- it's my piano, isn't it Mommy?
