laughter
I started to write this up on Friday, but didn't manage to get it posted until today...
Friday, 7/18/08: Danny had me laughing so hard this morning!
So Danny was awake and ready to go long before I was this morning. The sounds that woke me over the baby monitor weren't "I'm hungry" or "I'm stuck" but happy, playful babbling. Even after waiting for me to get out of the shower and eating his fill, he wasn't tired or sleepy - he was ready to play.
This is not too unusual, but then he'll typically fall asleep in the car and be refreshed but quiet by the time we get into daycare. Not today, tho! The whole drive in to day care he was awake and playing with his carseat toys (after taking off his hat so that he could see the toys better). Then when we got into school, his classroom wasn't ready yet, so we took him into the other infant classroom. I looked around to figure out where to put him down and decided to set up a boppy pillow for him to sit in. I was still carrying Danny on my hip and, being less familiar with this room, didn't even notice the wind chime that was hanging at about my shoulder height. Didn't notice it that is, until I leaned over to pick up the boppy pillow and felt resistance. I looked around to see what I had gotten hooked on and realized that Danny had discovered the wind chime that I had missed. He had grabbed it tight and was fascinated by it.
This set me off laughing. I laughed until tears came to my eyes. Eventually, I was able to pry his hand free from the wind chime and set him down with the boppy pillow - only to have him immediately flip onto his stomach so that he could reach the toys on the floor better...
Eventually, after taking my daily picture, I headed back out to the car on on to work. But the morning at work was far better than usual. What a difference it can make to start your day off with laughter!

Sittin' up - sorta
Sure enough, it only lasted about 5 minutes before he defaulted to
reclining in the boppy - but he's getting better at it!
